Scott Johnson
VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Johnson joins the soccer program after assistant coaching football and our state winning basketball team.
Coach Johnson was born and raised in England and grew up playing soccer. He attended the University of North Texas where he played soccer and rugby. After college, he played one season of professional rugby before retiring due to injuries and worked as a technology analyst for two Big Six consulting firms. He then transitioned into teaching during the pandemic. This will be his 5th year at McMillen where he teaches AP World History.
His favorite memory as a Panther so far was being on the coaching staff of the state championship basketball team that went undefeated, 40-0.
Ammar Nazarali
JV1 Head Coach
Coach Ammar joins the Plano East soccer program for the first time, taking over as the JV1 head coach. He brings years of coaching experience, coaching multiple teams as young as U5, and running men's league teams in DSA.
He is currently the social worker (LMSW, LCDC) for Williams HS.
Justin Bailey
VARSITY HEAD COACH
Coach Bailey is joining East Men's Soccer, as he heads into his 12th year coaching, and fifth year at Plano East. Prior to this year, Coach Bailey served as a varsity assistant on both the boys and girls side at Plano East, where he led the girls to playoffs for the first time in 15 years. He is also the Algebra 2 Team Lead.
Coach Bailey is originally from Tokyo, Japan, and grew up in Austin, where his playing and coaching career began. Coach Bailey's playing career consisted of St. Edward's University, Club soccer at UT Austin, USL-20 at Austin Aztex, and UPSL at Cap City Soccer Club. He began his coaching career at Lonestar Soccer Club before teaching and coaching at Lamar Middle School and McCallum High School in Austin.
He earned his Bachelor's degree from UT Austin. He and his wife Danielle live in Richardson, with their son Bennett and his two English Mastiffs. In his free time he continues to play in soccer leagues, Open D1 DSA and at Soccer Spectrum, and has recently picked up golf.
Dre Cortez
ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Dre Cortez is entering his third year of coaching high school, with four years of experience coaching collegiate football, most recently at McMurry University. He will be serving as a varsity soccer assistant and teaches health at Williams High School.
Coach Cortez grew up in Dallas, Texas, and attended H. Grady Spruce High School where he played football and ran track. He attended Fort Lewis College to play football, majoring in Sports Management. He has a master's degree in Sport Administration.
In his free time, he likes to play chess and golf. His favorite sports team is the Dallas Cowboys. Fun Fact: Coach Cortez was high school valedictorian.
Coach Donahoe
JV2 Head Coach
Coach Donahoe is entering his second year at Plano East. He is currently a football coach and will be the JV2 soccer head coach.
